Review workshop for the authors of the second cohesion report

The second cohesion report is picking up speed: On February 27 and 28, the authors from Jena, Hamburg, Halle, Leipzig, Göttingen, Hanover and Bremen met to discuss the contributions for the report at an authors' workshop.
The second cohesion report contains analyses of attitudes towards climate change and the socio-ecological transformation and uses data collected by the FGZ from the German Social Cohesion Panel (SCP), the Qualitative Panel, the Regional Panel (RegPan) and the Social Media Observatory (SMO). For the report, the researchers involved are developing a classification of climate attitudes (e.g. opinions on climate policy measures or concerns about the consequences of climate change) into different climate attitude types, representative for Germany. In this way, overlaps between climate attitudes and other political and social attitudes and socio-structural characteristics can be investigated. Among other things, the authors use empirical data to investigate how conspiracy mentalities or the perception of extreme weather are linked to attitudes towards climate change and climate policy for the Cohesion Report.
As part of the authors' workshop, the contributions to the Cohesion Report were scientifically reviewed, critically discussed and revisions of the contributions were discussed. The review process for the Cohesion Report ensures the high quality and robustness of the research results.
This intensive exchange marks another important step towards the publication of the second cohesion report. We look forward to continuing our joint work with all those involved and publishing the report at the end of 2025.
