German Social Cohesion Panel 2021/22 Wave 1

The Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) and the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) are conducting a panel study as part of their research cooperation. This involves surveying individuals in Germany in their household context on aspects of social cohesion, social inequality and social conflict. The dataset "German Social Cohesion Panel 2021/22 – Wave 1" includes survey data and generated indicators of the first and second part of the first panel wave. It contains responses from household anchor persons drawn from population registers and from adult household members who were named by the anchor persons and subsequently interviewed.

Selection Method: The anchor persons were drawn from population registers using a two-stage sampling procedure. Eastern Germans were disproportionately drawn into the sample. All adult household members named by the anchor persons were subsequently invited to participate in the survey.

Collection Mode: In the German Social Cohesion Panel, anchor persons and adult household members were invited by mail to participate in the survey. The survey was self-administered. Respondents had the choice of participating via the internet or by means of postal paper questionnaires. The questionnaire of the first wave was divided into two parts, the first of which corresponds to that of the SCP 2021 – Anchor. The second part was conducted approximately three months after the first part.
