Selection Method: SCP-NPS 2023 target persons were drawn from the infas Mehrthemenbefragung, a probability-based sample of the adult German population which employs a dual-frame (landline and mobile) random-digit-dialing (RDD) procedure. For this purpose, a gross sample of 5,000 individuals was selected, ensuring variation in age, gender, and education level. Invitations were sent via postal mail (50%) or email (50%). Participating target persons were then asked to invite up to three members of their personal network using unique referral links to the survey. Target persons and network members received a 5€ incentive for their participation. In addition, target persons received a 5€ incentive for each successfully recruited network member.
Collection Method: The NPS was conducted as a self-administered online survey (CAWI, Computer-Assisted Web Interview). Respondents accessed the questionnaire via a personalized link provided through either postal mail or email (target persons) or through a target person (network members, for instance via email or messenger services).
